How heavy should your padel racket be: the right weight for you

Published on 6 November 2026 · by Luca Bicchieri, PadelMetrix

For most adult players the right weight is between 350 and 370 grams. Beginners, players with arm problems and many women do well under 360 g; attacking players with a trained arm can go to 370 g and above. Balance matters too: two rackets with the same weight can feel very different.

How much the rackets on sale really weigh

In our database the typical (median) weight of an adult racket is 365 g, based on 259 models with a stated weight. By level:

LevelModelsTypical weight (g)Range (g)
Beginner36360320–368
Intermediate108360345–370
Advanced104365348–372

The difference between levels is small: manufacturers make beginner rackets only slightly lighter than advanced ones. So if you want something light, look at the "Light" or "Lite" versions of models.

How to tell if it's too heavy

If your arm is tired at the end of a match, you're late on shots at the net or you feel discomfort in your elbow or shoulder, drop a few grams or choose a lower balance (PadelPROShop). See also the guides to rackets for tennis elbow and women's rackets.

Frequently asked questions

How heavy should a padel racket be?

For most adults between 350 and 370 g: under 360 g for beginners, players with arm problems and many women; 370 g and above for advanced players with a trained arm.

Does a heavier racket give more power?

Yes, but only if you can swing it fast. If it slows you down, you lose power and control and tire your arm.

What weight should I choose with tennis elbow?

Best not to go over 370 g, with a low balance and soft feel.
